About Me
My name is David Feder, and I am a student at Fox Chapel Area High School, in Pittsburgh, PA. Ever since I stood on a floor made of glass hundreds of feet in the air at the Willis Tower looking over Chicago, I have been fascinated with the wonderful world of Materials Science and Engineering.
In Spring 2022, I founded the nonprofit, Technology Trained by Teens. The website is www.technologytrainedbyteens.org. We provide seminars, one on one training sessions, and a tech help hotline, to teach seniors smartphone apps to connect them with their friends and family. So far, we have already helped hundreds of people, and intend to keep growing that number!
Last summer, I had a research internship at the Neural Tissue Engineering Lab at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on biomaterials. I helped run an accelerated aging study of Butane Polyurethane to assess biodegradability that is soon to be published.
In my free time, I enjoy flying, playing ultimate frisbee, and rubik’s cubing.
I am primarily interested in Aerospace Materials and Energy Storage Materials, although I want to explore them both more in university to see which one I want to focus on.
New materials can change the course of humanity forever, and I dream to one day help create that new material.
